May I enter the exhibition hall with a bag or a backpack?

You may visit the exhibitions carrying items smaller than 35 cm. MAR has lockers where you can leave belongings in excess of this size. This measure is taken to prevent large bags and backpacks from damaging any work.

Where can I eat a snack at the Museum?

The Museum's open spaces are available for use as snack areas. Visitors should store jars and bottles containing liquids in the lockers before the entering the exhibition space. MAR provides drinking water fountains and restrooms in the halls of all Exhibition Hall floors and at the Escola do Olhar. We also have Café Cristóvão and the Mauá Restaurant for those who would like to have a meal while at the museum.

May I take photos at the exhibits?

Visitors may photograph most of the works provided they do not use a flash. However, some works and parts of the exhibition space cannot be photographed due to internal Museum rules. Be aware of the signs to know what you may or not shoot. Monitors are prepared to advise which works cannot be photographed.

May I use a mobile phone while I'm in the exhibition hall?

Mobile phones and communication radios may only be used in the hallways on each floor and in the Museum's external areas. These devices may not be used in the galleries - even in the silent mode - in order to ensure the contemplation of works and coexistence in the exhibition space.

Are animals allowed into the Museum?

Only eye seeing dogs accompanied by their owners may circulate in the Escola do Olhar areas and in the Exhibition Hall.

May I touch the works?

Works in exhibition may not be touched. Human skin accumulates residues that can damage works of art if handled. There will be clear signage for works for which interaction is allowed. Monitors can also assist you by pointing out what can be touched.

MAR has an open Wi-Fi network available in the Exhibition Hall. The network is closed in the Escola do Olhar. If you are attending a course or event at the school, monitors may provide you with the password.
